What is your biggest strength in Business? If your answer was anything but Sales, you are making mistake number three on my list of the seven biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make in the early stages of their business:
Failure to recognize the ability to sell is the most important quality for an entrepreneur.
You are Your Best Salesperson
As the founder of your business, no one should be better at selling the value of your product or service. This is especially true in the early stages of a business. Selling is the toughest thing to do well, regardless of niche. The number one thing I have to help my business coaching clients with is how to get out and sell more. It is the only way to grow your business.
Sales is tough. You have to let rejection roll off your back. Bring positivity and passion to every sales meeting. No one can sell the value of your business better than you.
I am still the best salesperson for my businesses, even though I have teams of excellent salespeople working for me. I have one company with a sales team of 20 people. In order to train a team of salespeople, you have to first succeed at being your business’s best salesperson.
Your challenge for this week is to have the biggest sales week you have ever had. How are you going to make this happen? Start by analyzing your sales history. Ask questions such as:
What types of customers buy from me the most?
What problems do these customers have that my product or service helps solve?
How can I find or attract more people who have similar problems and convert them into customers?
Build a sales strategy based on your answers to these questions, and then get out there and execute!
